10.00 am to approx. 1 pm – At Cannop Ponds to see wintering birds and review the Forestry England plans for improving the ponds and dams – meet in the Forestry England visitor car park, driving downhill towards Coleford from Speech House Hotel, take the tarmac track on the left below Beechenhurst at OS Grid Ref SO 610 116, What 3 Words sweetened.kebabs.isolated and drive down to the car park – be careful to avoid cyclists, walkers and families with children and dogs.
This is a pay & display car park (2 hours £2, 4 hours £4, all day £5) but free to Forestry England members displaying their membership permit.
The landscape is deciduous woodland, there are gravelled paths, the tarmac road and with tracks and paths through the trees, generally fairly level, some bumps and a little mud in places,
