A walk on Cleeve Common. With Giles Alder
The best meeting place would be at the Cleeve Hill Golf Club car park https://maps.app.goo.gl/NS3qWchrTD7dBRiL6
GL52 3PW. Parking is £2, redeemable against any refreshments bought.
I would suggest meeting at 9.30 and we would return to the car park by 12.30. People could then choose between a packed lunch or eating at the golf club. Distance would be approximately 3miles. Terrain not usually muddy but rough underfoot and hilly. No stiles. I am happy to vary this according to your needs.
Typical species to see at the time of year are skylark, meadow pipit, linnet, yellowhammer, willow warbler, stonechat. With some extra luck we could see ring ouzel, redstart, wheatear, adder, common lizard, green hairstreak, early purple orchid.
