Coombe Hill Reserve

Visit to the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust reserve on the west bank of the Severn, main focus on birds – arrival of wintering waterbirds and passerines – but also general characteristics of floodplain meadows. Meet at 10.00 am in the carpark at The Wharf, grid reference SO 887274 (reached by the narrow lane immediately south of “The Swan at Coombe Hill” pub, GL19 4BA); until 1.00 pm. No flooding yet, but paths may be muddy, so stout footwear (wellingtons or walking boots) advisable. Leader Mike Smart, phone 07816.140513. For further background information on the site see the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust website. Recent bird records from Coombe Hill available on the Gloster Birder website.
