A spring visit to the Lower Wye Valley. Park and meet at the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust parking area beside Lancaut Lane at ST541966. We will walk down to the river by the ruined church of St James and should be able to find Lily-of-the-valley Convallaria majalis and Fingered sedge Carex digitata. Returning to the road, we expect to see the persistent Subterranean clover Trifolium subterraneum on a dry bank by a cattle grid, and then explore Ban-y-Gor Woods. Bring lunch and footwear suitable for woodland paths on slopes.
